Program Notes

Through the process of forging, metal is turned from scrap into something spectacular. In “Forge” the same idea of shaping and hammering is applied to music. Through a juxtaposition of metallic percussion, short fanfares, and long melodic phrases, the piece goes through a process of refinement and eventual finality.
