Program Notes
William Owens showcases the joy and exuberance of youth in Flourishes! The piece opens with a declaration in the brass, which then leads to a playful section featuring the woodwinds and trumpets with fairy tale-like interjections from the percussion. The finale grows into an unapologetically ecstatic statement from the full ensemble.
