Program Notes

Finale for a Winter Festival, a sparkling holiday closer, was composed in response to the success of Overture for a Winter Festival and requests for a concert finale in a similar vein. This elegant work begins with a trumpet duet fanfare that beckons the band to join. Staging opportunities abound with optional antiphonal brass parts, and the celebratory mood of the featured carols, Once in Royal David's City and Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day, make this a wonderfully versatile work.
