Program Notes

Although the origin of this melody is obscure, it can probably be traced to Jacques Offenbach. The melody line in this fantasy is put through a series of musical variations culminating in a bravura 'grandioso' finale. The power and dignity of the Marine Corps is dynamically stated in this musical salute.
