Program Notes

I was honored and excited (as any composer would be) when asked to write a fanfare for the Eastman Wind Ensemble, but it was also composed during the height of the pandemic in 2020 and I couldn’t help myself wanting this work to have some affiliation to our current times.

In part, Fanfare for the Unspoken Heroes of Our Times is dedicated to the “unmentioned heroes” — the school teachers, doctors, nurses, etc. during the height of the pandemic. To make it short, the music goes back and forth between unrest and agitation versus tranquility and peace, ultimately and hopefully, ending in triumph.
