Program Notes
Austere and beautiful, these two Ave Marias were written about 400 years apart for Masses in both the Catholic and Russian Orthodox Churches. The intensely spiritual nature of these two works makes for a fine musical set that can be played together in any order or separately. These lofty settings serve as valuable and important transcriptions to the band idiom.
