Program Notes

To Colonel Lloyd E. Graham and the members of the United States Air Force Band.

- Program Note from score

This escapade is a true journey – exciting and full of unanticipated turns. The main, angular theme is developed and interrupted by a reoccurring “rock” motive and a chordal statement by the trombones. The slower middle section explores a second melody that is less angular and more melodic. The two themes eventually appear in simultaneous recapitulation toward the end of the work.
