Program Notes
Déjà Vu, which was commissioned and premiered by the New York Philharmonic, was awarded the 1978 Pulitzer Prize for music. First performance of the orchestral version was given by the New York Philharmonic, Erich Leinsdorf conducting, in October 1978.
The work involves four percussionists playing four separate solos, often in separate tempi, while exploring percussion colors in various musical styles.
