Program Notes

Git along little dogies! Head out to the open range with this three-movement work of well-known cowboy tunes. The first movement, Chisolm Trail, is based on the famous song and The Girl I Left Behind Me. A slow, mournful rendition of The Cowboy makes up the second movement. The piece concludes with a real hootenanny of a medley called At a Cowboy Dance, which includes: Buffalo Gals; Golden Slippers; Soldier's Joy and Skip to My Lou. This work offers serious music with quite a bit of fun.
