Program Note from publisher

"Who we are as adults is often defined by who we were as children. It's also about the people who, when we were young, cared enough to make a positive and lasting impression on our lives."

For years, I have occasionally called my friend Andy to seek an answer to a question about the business in which we are both involved. When informed by the receptionist that he would return the following week, I smiled, knowing he was likely visiting his cottage on Turtle Lake, located near Marcell, Minnesota. This has been his place of refuge that allows him to work on projects that requires some "alone time." This past summer, after one such trip, we talked, and I could tell he wanted to share a story. The cottage where, for many years, his grandparents had entertained family and friends is well within sight of his own place. One day, the current owners were standing outside when Andy walked by and casually informed them that he was quite familiar with their cottage. In fact, he proudly announced that he still had in his possession a childhood photograph that was taken in front of their fireplace. The couple graciously invited him to take a current picture. Andy was quite moved by this gesture of kindness. Needless to say, our conversation was unusually long that day as Andy shared recollections about his family and all the good and last memories that resulted from this beautiful cottage on the lake
