Program Notes
The first movement of the concerto, allegro jubiloso, contrasts a very celebrative and jubilant first theme with a serene second theme. The opening four notes of the composition evolve into the basic motif of the principal theme played by the solo trumpet.
The three movement Concerto for Trumpet Solo with Band Accompaniment had its premier performed by American trumpeter and Tonight Show band leader Doc Severinsen.
