Program Notes
Concertino for Violin Solo and Wind Orchestra has an easy jazz character. It was written in 1998 and expresses the conviction of the author that string instruments can also create a jazz atmosphere even though the solo part keeps its classical style of technique, accents and virtuosity.
The premiere took place on March 25, 1999 in Prague and was performed by the Prague Castle Guards. The director was Miroslav Hanzel with violin soloist, Jiri Nemecek, a student at the Academy of Music in Prague.
