Program Notes

Clarinet Buskers was completed on January 20, 2004, commissioned by Meiji Gakuin University Symphonic Band clarinet section and premiered at the band's summer concert on June 26 of that year. It's written as quintet of four B-flats and one bass clarinet with a duration of about five minutes, performed at allegro throughout.

I tried to express the sentiment of street performers showing off their skills while surrounding spectators enjoy the performance.
