Program Notes

Every year, in addition to the usual holiday festivities, many of us look forward to the cartoons and claymations that grace the television schedule. Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, Kris Kringle, Here Comes Santa Claus, The Chipmunks, The Grinch and many others are not only enjoyable for their storylines and artwork, but feature many fantastic songs and orchestral music. There are not enough band arrangements of these classics and good luck finding them all together in one piece!

Well, look no further because here it is! Be prepared to smile and perhaps even laugh out loud as this wild chart rips through them all in a holiday whirlwind. Would you like more contrabass trombone in your holiday diet? Do you dream or have nightmares about oboes sounding like chipmunks? Does hearing a tuba way above the staff remind you of Christmas? Would you like to see Santa Claus parade down Bourbon Street? If you said yes to any of these, you’re in for a real treat!
