Program Notes

Celebration Overture is an outstanding work for the youngest players by the master young band composer, James Swearingen. Ranges are modest (the clarinet parts don’t even go above the break) and it’s playable with smaller groups, but the unmistakable Swearingen touch is evident throughout.

Celebration Overture is dedicated to the Northside Blodgett Middle School Band and the Corning Area Community Band, Corning, New York, John Stranges, director.
