Program Notes

Carnival was commissioned for the Swiss saxophonist Frank Brogli by his father, Meinrad Brogli.

A slow, ballad-style, introduction is followed by a lively Vivace, a feature of which is a central passage where the entire saxophone section joins the soloist in an accompanied cadenza.
