Program Notes
Pablo de Sarasate was not only a great violin player but a composer as well, and because of that it´s quite logical that the violin plays an important role in his work. The Carmen Fantasy, together with Zigeunerweisen, (Gypsy Tunes) is probably his best known piece. In this composition de Sarasate uses the material of Bizet's Carmen in an excellent way.
