Program Notes

When I saw the new James Webb Space Telescope images on July 12, 2022, I was awestruck and overcome with emotion. The feeling that we are so small and insignificant in the scope of the universe is so beautiful and terrifying at the same time. I had this sketch (based on my flute and piano piece, believe it or not!) sitting around for a while and decided to return to it because the music I had written here reminds me of that awestruck feeling. What resulted was a short piece about how peaceful I felt looking at the image of the Carina Nebula.
