Brett Bawcum
Biography
Brett Bawcum (b. 1973, Nashville, Tenn.) is an American composer, conductor and educator.
Dr. Bawcum received his BMus in music education, MM in music performance and conducting, and DMA in music education, all from the University of Georgia.
Dr. Bawcum is assistant director of bands and associate director of athletic bands at the University of Georgia. He shares responsibility for design, instruction, and administration of the Redcoat Marching Band, directs other athletic bands, and teaches courses in a variety of areas including instrumentation and arranging, marching band techniques, and songwriting.
For five years, Dr. Bawcum was privately employed as a commercial country/popular songwriter, and arranger and composer for secondary and collegiate bands and orchestras. He continues as an active arranger for marching bands throughout the U.S. He has also served as producer, associate producer, or editor for wind band recordings on the Mark, Summit, and Naxos labels.
