Bradley S. Hartman
Biography
Bradley S. Hartman (b. New York) is an American educator, conductor and composer
Mr. Hartman studied music education and trombone performance at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University (Brookville, N.Y.) where he received a Bachelor of Music degree. While studying there, he began arranging pieces for brass quintet, and later wrote compositions for trombone quartet, and jazz combo. His original blues, Coolin' Off, was performed by the C.W. Post Jazz Combo on the main stage at the world-renowned Montreau Jazz Festival in Montreau, Switzerland. At his senior trombone recital, he premiered his first original brass quintet, Meditation, a three-movement work.
After graduating from Long Island University, Mr. Hartman continued his academic endeavors, earning a Master of Arts degree in liberal studies from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2014 and a Master of Music degree in wind conducting from Messiah College (Grantham, P.A.) in 2017.
Mr. Hartman is an active educator, composer, clinician, and conductor. He has previously held conducting positions with the Northwinds Symphonic Band (Glen Head, N.Y.) and the Nassau County Community College Band (Garden City, N.Y.). Mr. Hartman is continuously sought out as a clinician at the county and state level, providing insight to wind band literature, conducting techniques, pedagogy, and educational practices.
Currently, Mr. Hartman is the associate director and composer-in-residence of the Smithtown Community Band (Smithtown, N.Y.) as well as the director of bands at Bellport High School (Bellport, N.Y.).
