Program Notes

Blaze was commissioned by the Bishop Ireton Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Garwood Whaley, Director. Dr. Whaley and the ensemble premiered the work on April 7, 2001.

Blaze is lean, muscular, and driving. It suggests a level of energy and intensity that might follow a sudden, powerful flash of inspiration.
