- Program Note from Teaching Music through Performance in Band. Volume 12
This interesting work was commissioned in honor of the retirement of two directors of bands. Intended to capture the excitement and achievement that defined their illustrious careers, the piece begins with a soft, dignified woodwinds-only section that introduces a reverent melody in the trumpets before building to an intense chord. The mood suddenly becomes spirited during a faster main section that features punctuated rhythmic material, echo effects in the woodwinds, dramatic changes of dynamics, and bold melodic material drawn from the introduction. The tempo abruptly slows during a brief, full-ensemble celebratory section before the quick pace returns, driving the composition to a joyous conclusion.

Commissioned by the Lakeshore Bands of Stevensville, Michigan, and dedicated to Philip and Cindy Huff, Director's [sic] of Bands in honor of their retirement. The piece captures the excitement and achievement that define Philip and Cindy's illustrious careers.
