Program Notes

This bold contest overture features stirring themes and contrasting styles. The brilliant opening statement by the brass leads to a majestic woodwind reply followed by a lyrical andante section skillfully scored to achieve beautiful sonorities.

A Bayside Portrait was commissioned by the Citrus High School Band, Inverness, Florida, Kathy Thompson, director.
