Program Notes

In the still of the night, a tiny bat emerges from a long forgotten cave. With infernal energy and insatiable hunger, the creature darts about as if dodging the fires of hell, furiously fast and untraceable, wreaking havoc and destruction until dawn.

Bat out of Hell was composed for Jonathan Helton and the Mahidol Wind Symphony, Christopher Hughes, conductor, for the 2009 World Saxophone Congress in Bangkok, Thailand.
