Austin AJ Perry

Austin AJ Perry (any/all pronouns) (b. 2000, San Antonio, Tx.) is an America composer, student, bassoonist, and avid roller coaster enthusiast.

Mr. Perry is [2022] a composition student at Texas Tech University studying with Peter Fischer.

AJ is inspired by the passage of time, the vastness of the West Texas landscape, and LGBTQ+ arts and culture. A recent collaboration with the Aruna Quartet, Cloud Decks and Turbines, provides a quintessential piece of queer West Texas Art; the quartet is a transformative journey from one’s home to a new life. Their most recent project, Log Flume, invokes a joyous and nostalgic sound inspired by the video game.

Mr. Perry has written for several groups across Texas including the Amorsima Trio, the Aruna Quartet and the Texas Tech Saxophone Ensemble. He has had performances of his works at the Texas Music Educators Association 2022 Convention and the UIL Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest. They’ve also performed as a bassoonist in Prague, Vienna, Budapest, and New York, as well as in the Roswell Symphony and at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago with the Texas Tech Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
