Alan Kinningham
Biography
Allan Kinningham (b. 18 April 1956, Huntingdon, Tenn.) is an American composer and educator.
Dr. Kinningham studied at the University of Tennessee at Martin (B.S. degree in Music Education), the Texas A&M University at Commerce (Master of Music degree in Composition), and the University of Memphis (Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Composition).
He is director of bands at Covington High School in Covington, Tennessee, an adjunct professor at Dyersburg State Community College, and assistant professor music at Freed-Hardeman University, Henderson, Tenn. At Freed-Hardeman, Dr. Kinningham teaches music theory, composition, form analysis, orchestration, conducting, music literature, and woodwinds.
An active composer, he enjoys writing for a wide variety of musical genres and styles such as band, choir, string ensembles, jazz ensembles, as well as popular song styles.
