Program Notes

African Aleluia is a joyous arrangement of the popular Kenyan sing Wana Barata. The Swahili text for this song is loosely translated as "They have blessings, those that prey, Alleluia. They have peace, they have joy, they have well-being, Alleluia."

Repeating percussion patterns utilizing cowbell, claves, tom-tom and bass drum provide a solid rhythmic foundation for the catchy syncopated melody. A typical call-and-response section gives this arrangement an authentic African feel.
